Workshop: SEM Imaging and Compositional Analysis

This intensive, two-day short course will provide a practical and theoretical introduction to imaging and analysis with SEM and EDS, as well as materials sample preparation techniques. Each day will consist of lecture, discussion and hands-on training led by GEM staff.  This short course will also include post image processing.
What: Anyone requiring training on FE-SEM, EDS, and materials sample preparation. The workshop will be limited to 4 participants based on the availability of equipment.Cost: UGA: $500 per participants. This fee includes supplies, chemicals, hands-on beam time, personalized training by GEM staff, and completion certificate. UGA participants will also be considered trained for the Teneo FE-SEM.

Instructor:  Eric Formo, Ph.D. – Dr. Formo is the Lab Manager of GEM. He has many years of experience with various material and polymer samples. He is also the proud recipient of numerous micrograph awards including C&EN Chemistry in Pictures, Thermo-Fisher (FEI) Image of the Year, and M&M Micrograph Competition Award for his imaging with SEM.
