This intensive, two-day short course provides a practical and theoretical introduction to low kV imaging and analysis, and materials sample preparation techniques. Each day consists of lecture, discussion and hands-on training led by GEM staff. This short course also includes post image processing.
What: Anyone requiring training on FE-SEM, STEM, and materials sample preparation. The workshop is limited to 4 participants based on the availability of equipment.
Cost: UGA: $500 for UGA participants; Non-Profit Institutions: $750 per participant, For-Profit participants: $1000.. This fee includes supplies, chemicals, hands-on beam time, personalized training by GEM staff, and completion certificate. UGA participants will also be considered trained for the Teneo FE-SEM.

Instructor: Eric Formo, Ph.D. – Dr. Formo is the Lab Manager of GEM. Dr. Formo previously worked at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Dr. Formo has a wide-ranging materials synthesis and analysis background including experience with inorganic nanomaterials, thin films, polymers, inorganic and polymer fibers, as well as archeological and geological samples.
